ENZYME

ENZYME entry: EC 2.3.1.178

Accepted Name
diaminobutyrate acetyltransferase
Alternative Name(s)
2,4-diaminobutanoate acetyltransferase
DABA acetyltransferase
DAB acetyltransferase
DABAcT
diaminobutyric acid acetyltransferase
L-2,4-diaminobutanoate acetyltransferase
L-2,4-diaminobutyrate acetyltransferase
Reaction catalysed
acetyl-CoA + L-2,4-diaminobutanoate <=> (2S)-4-acetamido-2-aminobutanoate + CoA + H(+)
Comment(s)
  • Ornithine, lysine, aspartate, and alpha-, beta- and gamma- aminobutanoate cannot act as substrates.
  • However, acetyl-CoA can be replaced by propanoyl-CoA, although the reaction proceeds more slowly.
  • Forms part of the ectoine biosynthesis pathway.
